Perky, Seamfree (large) Breasts

The last client I fit in a bra (she was really a friend as I’m moving out of bra fitting and into designing more apparel) was a single, thirty year old nurse. I don’t know why I feel the need to give you that background. We fit her in a G/GG/H cup, depending on the brand, with a size 32 back band.

We found a beautiful, but expensive, three part seamed cup bra. But being on a limited budget and given her lifestyle and wardrobe needs we opted for the less expensive t-shirt bra.  Now, as you hopefully know, a seamed bra helps reduce nipple show-through by placing the nipple directly behind the seam. The pressure of the seam facilitates keeping the nipple “under wraps”.

However, without seams women are nervouse of nipples expressing themselves at inopportune times. Thus the client purchased a pair of nipple concealers.

Which just seems like a bunch of work to me. Is Pamela Anderson what we wish to attain? Big, round, perky, smooth and nipplefree boobs? Definitely women think this strategy – seamfree bra coupled with nipple concealers (it cost us about $115 to get out the door that day) is necessary when wearing tight knit tops.
What about you?  Are nipple concealers required to feel confident? For what its worth, I wore a similar thing when nursing my third child, which is probably why I’m not interested in wearing them now. But, then again, I don’t even have a seamfree bra.  I don’t look nor feel good in tight knit tops.

Eh… Everyone has nipples, why has an industry popped up for the sole purpose of convincing people otherwise? Nipple concealers are a waste of money. If you’re showing through your bra, don’t worry about it.

Yes I wear these fairly often and always have them on hand. I would *like* to say “Everyone has nipples, what’s the big deal?” but in reality there’s no way I’m going to stand up and make a presentation at work or go to a family dinner on Easter and just let them poke out. EVERYONE notices and it’s embarrassing no matter what – whether it’s because guys at a bar suddenly hover around, or because my family/boss sees it as unbecoming or unprofessional. I have pretty persistent nipples (even under a molded bra, cami with shelf bra [so two layers there] and a sweater, I’ve been known to have nipple show-through) and I couldn’t live without these accessories!

I don’t even bother with nipple concealers. I have never really had issues with showthrough anyway. They seem like a waste of money in my world. I, like you, prefer seamed bras as long as they are well-made and don’t itch.

I’ve never considered concealers. I have a ‘t-shirt’ bra, which is basically thicker and seamfree, and that seems to be enough. I call it my winter bra: my nipples respond to cold, so this bra is my go-to during colder months.

I feel showing nipple is unprofessional at work, and not usually the image I want to give outside of work. Nipples are natural, but there’s a lot of natural things I really don’t feel the general public should see.

I also don’t like to have visible back bra “spooge”, muffin-top over pants, bra straps, underwear lines, etc. Some of these things are a natural part of the body, but at a minimum they interrupt the intended line of the clothes.

I haven’t yet bothered with nipple concealers however. Wide strap camisoles and tank tops usually work well enough for me.

When I am wearing a tight knit top with just the bra under, I tend to go towards a thicker knit that won’t show as much, a thicker rib-knit with texture, or a t-shirt in a dark color with a pattern on it to hide the shadows of nipples.

I wear them when I wear blouses that are smooth. Since the birth of my third child, I have had issues with “nipple-idge” as a problem. I, too, am a professional and minister and do not wish to distract with them looking at folk. I LOVE them!!!

  7. Melanie says:

Band-aids work just as well and are cheaper if you only need to use them occasionally.

  8. Maureen says:

I’ve absolutely no problem with nipplage through clothing. One more thing to be embarrassed about? Life is too short to care.

  9. Evenovae says:

There is absolutely no reason to hide nipples outside of the work setting. That being said, many professional women wear woven tops that cover the arms and chest, and getting THAT cold is highly unlikely.

As far as knit t-shirts in public….breasts are not genitals, they’re breasts. I see men nipples all of the time on the street, so why should I have to buy dumb plastic things when I already have my skin covered? Come on.
