Highlight the Positive

The positive difference between your bust and your waist.  We have fit women with as much as a naturally occurring 14″ difference between their bust and their waist and as low as a 6″ difference.

Nipping in the high waist is universally flattering.  Women are usually smallest in the under bust/high waist area.  If you are in your mid twenties or haven’t bore multiple children, you may still have a nicely dented waist at your belly button or lower, but for the rest of us, we need that high waist snug to show our shape.

Christina Hendricks is the IT girl for curves these days.  Here is a picture of her with a drapey, flowy dress.  It does tie at the waist, but it is a narrow tie while the bodice is blousy and the skirt billowy, so the tie is not very strong in defining  her waist.

Here she is again in a sharply tailored (I’ve read her being quoted as saying, “my body looks best in tailored designs”) high waisted dress.  The difference is remarkable.

Pre Ms. Hendricks, the IT girl for curves was Salma Hayek.  Her dress in this picture nips in at the high waist, literally just under the bust, then drapes in Grecian fashion to a column skirt.  Having an angled or slightly curved waist seam/band gives more direction to the eye, creating a slimmer silhouette line.

Its our goal at Carissa Rose to highlight your best bits every day.  Nipped waists, flowing skirts, strong tailoring.  And that makes us even more excited as we work on our fall styles!
